Seat Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Seat

Seat

Half deep was a dug well
Around it, lugs, timber
And trunks and tinder
As well as branches.

Few men were working
Selecting, dropping
In the well, the items.

Then spark to aflame
And waited and observed
The burning, with blaze.

Practised, and aware
They knew, impatient
Were pleased, admired
The way that worked fire.

Then came time to cover
The mouth of burning hell.

Plan was to choke the
Actions and reactions
In belly of the well.

As a lake turns swamp
Without rain and flow
Happened the expected
Inside that hot place.

Men knew killing of
A fire makes charcoal
While avoiding ashes.

Now, I talk with you all,
You who race, even fight
To gain and own seat or
Throne of: "Leadership! "

No trust I can have
In bad-mouthed, insulting!

And it is clear
Through words I hear
That you are blaming
Everyone distancing
Himself of your thinking.

Time has shown your tricks
And your lies, demeaning.

You cheat us to step
On our weakened shoulders
To climb to skies
From where you face sun
And give us the shadows
To fade and go to die.

You keep on drumming
And shouting very loud:
"Enemy is marching;
Will attack if I go…"

What is in such seat that
To have it you become
A devil on the earth?

I think it is greed
And am sure is greed
And greed is devil.

I heard of devil's talk
Arriving to mankind;
In the shape of angel
And bud of flower,
But in search of power.

Aren't you just the same?

Can you say: "No, " reject?

Will that not be a lie?

See you racing devil!
