Does Amber Ray really know how,
After nearly four decades now?
What happened to her Father?
Did the Air Force ever bother?
Does she know the total truth?
Just what ended his youth?
Aircraft Rivet Amber departed Shemya early in the morning.
The June 5,1969, flight ended with little warning!
Lost over the Bering Sea!
Not much debris?
No one in the Air Force would much speak
Of Rivet Amber and its mission so unique!
The night before in the NCO Club bar,
A proud crew member gave each of us a cigar.
His first child was just born.
The name she would adorn -
Amber Ray!
From his special aircraft and the rare light rays in the Shemya sky so gray.
For the new Father a few hours of parental bliss,
Then just gone in the secrecy abyss!
Does the Air Force still play the classified game?
Did Amber Ray ever know from whence her name came?
