Secrets Of The Sea Poem by Rebecca Cox

Secrets Of The Sea

The sacred words written in the sand,
Telling of our love for each other as we walk across this land.
Soon to be washed by the sea, however, never to be forgotten,
The tide will rise, our words will flee,
But forever etched into our hearts; this memory of the sea.
As the times change, new loves will grow,
Rest assured that forever, the ocean will always know.
Our love for each other once written on its shore,
Will wash away soon,
Never forgotten, but written here no more.
The seas hold a million secrets, some lost beneath the waves,
Others sealed away in bottles, some hid away in caves.
Each of these secrets have their own story, too,
But none more important than me being here with you.
A collage of dreams, a scrapbook of wishes; the sea will always hold,
Barely hinting at the secrets waiting to be told.
With the rising of the moon, the waves, too, shall grow,
The words once written here never again will show.
Another dream into the ocean, as the waves draw back again,
The foamy knolls taking back their borrowed grains of sand.
Now as we walk on, step by step, and hand in hand,
Our footprints leave a legacy, soon to meet the washing waves,
Joining the other secrets; sealed within bottles, and hid away in caves…
