Self The Opaque Veil Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Self The Opaque Veil

Self is the opaque veil
That covers the eyes of the mind
As it fails to grasp or avail
Of the Truth it seeks to find.

Self stands proud on a hill
There it tries to view from afar
Gauging minute things at will
Never knowing what they really are.

Self denounces whatever may
Negate all its drawn-up conclusions,
Closed like a box, it shuns away
The Light that can break its confusion.

Self has to be broken to receive
The Wisdom and Freedom that it needs
It must allow Faith in to believe
The Way where Life and Love leads.
