Selfless Love
To love is not for praise or earthly fame,
It asks no monument, no song, no verse,
But pours itself, a sacrificial flame,
A silent gift, to heal a world's deep curse.
Like Him who bore the cross, our love must be
A willing forfeit, offered freely, whole,
Though history forgets both you and me,
And no one whispers of our selfless souls.
Let others seek renown, a lasting name,
Our joy resides within the act alone,
To bear another's burden, grief, or shame,
And plant a seed where hope has never grown.
For love's true measure lies in what we give,
A life laid down, that others then may live.
