Sentient Slaughter Poem by Joyce Rugg

Sentient Slaughter

Rating: 5.0

Hiding in ancient excuses
We justify our fallacy
An undeserved arrogance
That we call supremacy

Indoctrinated, skewed beliefs
And the lure of property rights,
Only humans can suffer,
Creatures can't voice their plights

We exploit all animals,
Denying that we are one.
We are the mass murderers
Who've never touched a gun

Our illusion of cleanliness
Is tearing at the seams
And we shout to be heard
Over slaughterhouse screams

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was inspired by my beliefs. (I'm a vegetarian) I'm not saying i hate people who eat meat, I simply think we could treat animals more respectfully.

I'm an animal lover and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am disgusted by the concept of human superiority over any other wildlife. You have voiced that call very well.

We exploit all animals, Denying that we are one. We are the mass murderers Who've never touched a gun A very powerful verse! I really like this poem it's very powerful! Also riddled with truth. You're very gifted, nice work :) I gave it a 10
