Serum Evening.... Poem by Neela Nath Das

Serum Evening....

It was a cultural evening.
After the program
by the students
a famous classical singer
was singing a song on
separation and detachment.
Near the mini-forest of Pine,
I was with Trina and Rita,
listening to the woeful song.
Rita pulled my hand and asked me
to go with her
to get some snacks.
Trina stayed but I walked
along with Rita.
I was feeling sad
as couldn't find my
lover anywhere!
When we were passing a bush
near the Cultural-Hall,
I saw a strange scene.
My lover was caressing
a girl of his class,
(known as a whore)
and she as a cat
was receiving his every
dramatic love -stroke!
I heard the sound
of breaking glasses
in my heart's chamber.
Someone called Rita
and she left me behind,
I became alone.
I was very close to them.
But, they didn't notice me.
They were like two busy
doves, absorbed in kissing,
billing and cooing.
I stealthily left the place
and it started raining
on all a sudden!
I stood under the open sky
and my tear flowed into
the drops of rain water
washing my pains
thru the serein,
the sudden rain!
It gifted me a serum
evening protecting me
from the perpetual disbelief,
for the major part of
my trustful life!
