Serenade Poem by Neela Nath Das

Serenade

Rating: 4.0

Evening was thickening
on the window-pane!
The stars tinkled to
say hello to night.
I couldn't keep
my mind at home.
The evening breeze
called- - - Come Outside.
Just then, I heard
a melody near.
I leaned over and
stunningly saw,
beneath my window
you stood and oh!
it played the strings
of my heart!
Mandolin and you
making a collage
quilted a fabulous
striking art.
The Serenade I listened
to with my heart's content
was still humming
around my house!
As the night grew old,
your song faded away
in the horizon
of night and dawn!
I kept my window open
with a deep hope
to get to your
melodious song!
