Seventeen Again Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Seventeen Again

Oh dear Lord can you help?
Mom has decided she is one of the girls
Now dressing in the latest teen fashions
At our parties… dancing and tossing her curls

Did she miss out when she was growing up
Is she now catching up in a wishful way
Does hanging out and stealing the show
help her to compensate for those lost days

Is it wrong for me to be a little miffed
Am I jealous or just feeling unhinged
She doesn't fit the image I had in mind
Thoughts being motherless makes me cringe
