Shadow My Friend Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Shadow My Friend

Bright morning
Lone walk felt
All the more
Interesting
In the company
Of my own shadow.

Sun behind
Shadow in front
Thin and long
Twice my height
I kept following
My own shadow.

The shadow kept
Changing at every turn
Taking the contour
Of the uneven ground
Shadow, my friend
A great companion.

I kept thinking
Of all the shadows
Cast by others
Throughout my life
Like great trees
They gave me comfort.

Shadow appears
Shadow vanishes
Leaf on a tree
Casts its shadow
A fallen leaf
Hides its own.
