Shadowed Toil Of The Ancients

shadowed toil and land
sought the
Pyramid

Paranoid
thought Death
needing pay

let night shun sun

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Shadowed Toil Of The Ancients poetry by Clive Culverhouse. This is an old poem I wrote many years ago. I was intrigued at how similar the words pyramid and paranoid were. Pyramids are absolutely structures of paranoia, rulers paranoid of death and the afterlife; but also, with the poem, so many people involved in the construction, so much life and activity, Death is feeling the paranoia. The final metaphor is night (Death) shunning the sun (Life) again in paranoia.
