Shadows Walking In The Twilight Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Shadows Walking In The Twilight

Shadows Walking in the Twilight

*
what pleasure to reach for you in the twilight
to find you in the still of the stars
watching them look through the windows of our eyes
while the moon itself shimmers and bows.

**
in the hours after dusk there are closed eyes
where thoughts find their way in dreams
it's here that you always loom in the stars -
in the Milkyway of the universe you are a diamond.

***

ocean of stars and universe that my eyes search
where my love rises and sinks in its depth
I feel the soft quite whispers touch me time and again
as the stars seem to breathe and sing our names silently.

****

our eyes walk beyond the window of the universe
the air light and the darkness melts in the moonlight
and in this realm there are sweet secrets kept -
in the inner parts of the stars and the ribbons of the moon.

*****

dusk to dawn and sunlight to moonlight we've walked the corridors
traced the fingerprints and our footprints like woven silk thread
and hung our love from golden chains on the stars and moonlight
far from the wings of soaring angels beating the wind or dividing daylight.
