Shall I Walk On My Way? Poem by Neela Nath Das

Shall I Walk On My Way?

I was playing on the ground
Wrapping sunshine and delight together.
I didn't know grief or sorrow had there been.
But, an endless cloud covered my sky one afternoon,
And I came to know, you were no more.
My days of innocence had gone with that day's twilight.
I learned from that very evening
How to live without a Tree.
I grew up soon knowing, nothing was there
To claim from life.
And my adulthood also taught me,
To squeeze the best from it.
What I missed throughout I tried
To give to all.
But, I can not love them
As much as you, father
I can't fill the gap.
I couldn't know what pain
Ate my brother, I didn't try to cure.
So he passed away so alone
Without giving a clue.
Death, death is so cruel
It snatched my bliss away.
At this point of mid-noon,
Shall I walk on my way?
