It's unlikely but true -
Your physical attraction
Entertains me
On so many levels.
Your voice as smooth as slate
But subtle - soft and subtle -
And untarnished by locality
Draws my soul.
You utter practical nothings
Statistical representations
Cardboard cut-out numbers
Meaningless drivel;
I want to hear you speak
Of more important things -
Of life and loves and instincts
But am denied.

Breathtaking, Jon. I really like this poem. Its the first I've read of your other poems. Count on me reading more.
Well done, and somewhat remeniscent of Shakespeare's 130th sonnet.
This really works. We're all drawn in by asthetics, and try in vain to find something deeper behind the facade. Great poem. Hugs Anna xxx
I like this one... Drawn in on physical attraction and then later disapointed. I'ts good =)
Good poem. You might enjoy my poem: I Say There Is No Physical Beauty.
I like this poem... It happens so often... first you have shysical attraction... but when you get past it... you have to have something more... GREAT! ! !
I like this one very much. The flow of the ideas and words go well. And of course, there's the wit. I would say, YES!
a voice as smooth as slate......what a line love the title, explains all pp x
