Shameless Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Shameless

Shameless.
Yet expected to accept.
One's dangerous self indulgence.
To own.
With attention to get.
Petty, childish.
And one obsessed with ego.
Even those narcissitic,
Turn off their TVs in disbelief.
Embarrassed by what they see.
That someone so shameless,
Can be so below...
A showing of empathy.
That a pretending to have it,
Will never be felt.
Or know what it is,
To express to someone else.
Whether meant or not.
If written to read 'Express Empathy'.
But...
Knowing when and why,
Would take too long of an explanation.
For someone devoted,
And taught to admire selfishness desired.
