Shattered Poem by HELEN.J WILLIAMS

Shattered

Rating: 2.9

He asked me to marry him -
Of course i said yes,
I had no idea my love would be put to the test,
I thought we would be happy in our own little nest.
But my happiness turned to misery in only one week,
when he rang & said it was over -
I sat silent - could not speak.
I hung up the phone - I cried my eyes out,
The pain that i felt, I just wanted to shout.
I needed to talk but no-one was home,
So i sat down & trembled i felt so alone.
How can i tell every one its over so soon,
As the ring on my finger shines like the moon.
He, s hurt me before but never like this,
No making up & sealed with a kiss.
Its over from here - I will just have to learn,
That candles glow bright
But get too close & they burn! ......
