She Poem by Becca Bell

She

Who is she?
This creature, this person
Living with or without a smile
Lving in the same house with others
Going to school with others
But still, she's somewhat alone
She once reached out
Only for herself
She continues to reach out
But now for a different goal, not her own
Her hands are still attached,
Yet they're always in service
They belong to the others
To the bodies she's touched
The ones she has befriended
Opening the beauty within
Allowing the freedom
She willingly hungers
Her pain; she ignores
So that they may feel none
Her life no longer belongs to her alone
In those simple moments
When her hands reach out again
Such a lonely way
So worth the suffering
For she knows she cannot serve
Unless she suffers
