She Broke Me Poem by Dustin Smith

She Broke Me

The world that I live in has been changed,
All of my triggers being pulled but I'm away from the range.
All I wanted was peace in mind,
But the world has not been so kind.
She says she wasn't cheating,
But my heart has taken a beating.
Love is an inability to cause hurt,
But now my mind is always on alert.
She can say that she cared,
But if it were true love, she wouldn't have even dared.
Gave plenty of chances to come clean,
But she lied to my face, became defensive and mean.
I've finally been able to forgive,
But it hasn't gotten easier to live.
Everyone says it will be okay,
But my word is dark, even during the day.
The sky is clear, so why is there rain?
Bottle it up but I still feel the pain.
I've been thrown away like a piece of trash,
Behind the wheel, I want to crash.
It's just too hard to be here anymore,
Feels like I've got nothing to live for.
But I know this won't last,
One day it will be part of the past.
I need that day to hurry,
Because when we're apart, all I can do is worry.
