Shedding The Illusory Self Poem by Mohammad Younus

Shedding The Illusory Self

Shedding the Illusory Self
Detach from all that is
ordinary, imaginary, and false—
the ego's grip on life relinquished.
Let go of the roles you've played,
the identities you've worn,
and fleeting desires that anchor you
to illusion.
Move towards authenticity,
seeing yourself
beyond the narratives
that the world has imposed.

The realization of I-Am
emerges in the solitude of the mystic—
a direct encounter with existence
in its purest form.
In this quietude,
you recognize being itself,
uncolored by past memories
or future projections,
anchoring you in the eternal now.
This timeless presence
is the core of spirituality—
Self-awareness,
the foundation for transcending illusion.

This solitude,
though it may appear as a void,
is not one of absence or lack.
It is a fertile emptiness—
free from mental chatter,
pettiness, and desires.
This "void" is where the ego dissolves,
and true humility arises.
It is the womb of all potential,
where the finite self surrenders
to the infinite.

In this space,
you sense a connection to a larger,
more authentic world—
a realm that feels more real.
Here, the mystical experience unfolds:
the boundaries dissolve
between self and existence.
You become conscious of a vast reality,
participating in its wholeness
instead of feeling separate from it.

This solitude arises not
because reality is missing,
but because everything is truly one—
one single, meaningful presence.
You realize the essence of life,
where being and reality are—
no longer separate, but whole.
