You are like the rose
With the fragrance under my nose,
And when I close my eyes in prayer
You are there.
You're as delicate as the petals
When unto you the eyes settles,
And then when I touch your skin
I am then envied by all men.
You are indeed a beautiful flower
As the sun gives you a shower,
Artists see you and they want to paint
Poets see you and they want to faint.
As the rose sits upon its sturdy stem
You and the rose creates a hymn,
And every time a person passes by
There is always an appreciative sigh.
Roses are kept for their beauty in a vase
To bring a smile upon a saddened face,
But, unlike a rose in a vase you cannot be contained
By God you have been ordained.
You are like the rose I say
As I see and I appreciate it more everyday,
And you as well have your many thorns
To those who scorns.
