Shining Star Poem by Roberto Echanes

Shining Star

Oh my shining star, I look at Thee day n’ night,
Oh Light of mine; see your glow on the sky,
Shining, shining, Oh so bright,
Oh shining star that gladdens my heart,
With such sweet light,
Oh bright, so bright!

Oh my shining star, truly beauteous Thou art,
Who fills my heart with such inner glare,
Who in my moments of darkness,
Dispels my fears, and dries my tears,
Oh shining star, my shining star,
Oh Pride of the cosmos, Oh eternal light.

Oh shining star! Oh muse of mine!
Loving presence, oh sweetness divine!
Thou art this poet’s inspiration,
who constantly thinks of Thee,
In every incantation,
to compose these verses full of eternal glee.

Oh shining star, in a summer night,
The sweet moon pales at your loveliness,
And the fragrant flowers shrivel,
so jealous of your spotless grace.
And the wind gently blows on my face,
Bringing to my ears Thy sweet name,
Deeply in my heart ‘tis there to remain,
Oh my lovely and shining star!
My deep love for Thee knows no end…
