Shock Poem by RIC BASTASA

Shock

a chick away from the hen's
wings
on the ground
looking for grain

a hawk glides
and takes it

too late for the hen
the clouds drift by

the sky
shows no sigh of shock

nature's normal
ways
a predator is taking
its much deserved breakfast
plain strategy
a skill for the kill.
