Should I Have Known - Poem by Linda Barnes

When our eyes met
Could I have known
How we would love
As life would grow

Hearts beat fast
Of course, then slow
Moving through time
Against all hope

We loved so deeply
For us to know
Moments pass slowly
With signs that followed

Love is a mystery
Such emotion untold
What lies ahead
Should I have known

Topic(s) of this poem: love and loss

Form: Abecedarian
