Silence My Grieving Heart Poem by Linda Barnes

Silence My Grieving Heart

It feels hopeless at times
When those profess their love
An untruth that is spoken
Will not change what is inside

Why must I remain so silent
Or be refrained from my pain
It builds a wall too tall to scathe
A barrier too thick to break

To continue on this path
That is laid before me now
Will only come to a fork
A crossroad they will not like

If one does not want to hear
Of a loved ones loss and grief
Just means there is fear
Insecurities they must bear

Being forced to stand and be alone
Within a darkness all my own
Having to hide from sight
Will not silence my grieving heart
