Should It Matter Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Should It Matter

Should it matter,
Who has been discovered...
To have lied upon others.
After and not before,
Innocent lives...
Were meant to intend to destroy.

Is this to do more accepted to expect,
When a friend, business associate.
Or a relative does this with effect.
Should it or does this really matter,
If the doing was all in fun.
And what had been done,
No one should have taken seriously.

Should it matter if reputations were ruined.
Should it matter if this,
Has ended relationships.
Should this matter in times,
When many are caught up,
Laughing at their misdeeds.
Leaving others left to believe,
They are the ones to get over it.

And...
Should it matter,
If those unconscious...
Can not see themselves as fools.
Used as tools and made idiots.
To think what they do to others,
Can not be excuse to forget...
How they allow themselves to choose stupidity.
Especially in times,
When thoughtlessness to find...
Is neither rare to know it for what it is.

Should it matter?
