Should We Die Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Millions watch helplessly towards sky
Humbly ask for what is their fault and why?
Shake head in disbelief and find no other way
Open sky is refuge and earth only place to lay

Is God openly punishing for our simple crime?
Have we become so unreasonable in course of time?
Have we alienated the nature from its present level?
Is it not in conformity with rule or the sequel?

Are we going to face natural fury every year?
Is there no one in this world who will land ears?
Why such horrible suffering for all the years to bear?
Why no one is coming forward to wipe our tears?

God, do you have different yardstick for punishment?
Why poor only face the annihilation and banishment?
Will no messiah come on earth and take our care?
Will we find no place on earth to stay or go nowhere?

We may continue to suffer and also languish
Rich may not face onslaught under any anguish
We may be buried live under debris and perish
Sea waves may raise banner simply us to finish

Tidal waves and typhoon may not spare us either
No courage or strength to face the storm and wither
It will cause devastation at unimaginable scale
No body would survive to narrate the horrible tale

We may face slaughter if not awakened to reality
Human race may become extinct with lack of humanity
Let us rise to the occasion and share tragedy and grief
Start from the stretch with opening of new leaf

We may not receive help in need of hour
It may be coming late with little down pour
We may feel hurt but term it as destiny
Having no moral strength to rise in mutiny

O, lord or creator! Can you treat us alike?
Why rich get preference and poor face dislike
Are we the only creature meant to be lost?
Why should it not stop with or without cost?
