Sickly Overdose Addict Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Sickly Overdose Addict

With voices whispering around me,
I layed down and closed my eyes.
This is enough.
I can feel them absorbing into my being,
my body is tingling.
I can’t believe he’d…
‘No, stop that! ’, yelled one of the voices.
I looked down,
my wounds had opened again, spilling blood needlessly.
If he see’s me like this,
he’ll only bring it down upon himself.
I can’t let him know.
An hour passes.
My hands are trembling,
it’s so close.
A car pulls in the driveway.
I stumble to my feet,
using the walls to get to the door.
I watch as he get’s out and meets me on the lawn.
It’s almost impossible not to fall.
My knee’s buckle,
and I collapse in time for him to catch me.
It was then that I knew,
my life is in my hands.
And I wouldn’t hesitate to take it away.
