Signals From Space Poem by Phil Soar

Signals From Space

Signals from space
Maybe we're not alone
1.5 billion light years
Is a long way from home
What Channel they're using
Is quite hard to tell
Shall we send them a question?
To see if they're well

How long would it take?
To get a reply
As radio waves travel
High up in the sky
Have they got broadband?
Is it better than ours
And not always buffering
For hours and hours

Maybe it's just an alien trick?
Why don't they give us a call
They're sending out messages
We can't ignore
How long will it take them
To knock on our door?
Asking directions
As they're Sat Nav is flawed

Either way,
Signals from far out in space
Leave Scientists
With a smile on they're face
And the point of it all?
Well, that's anyone's guess
By the time we make contact
Earth will be such a mess
