A seed of cruelty takes root,
only in soil left untendend.
Darkness lingers,
where no hands reach for the light.
The walk among us,
not because they are strong,
but because doors stay open
and voices stay quiet.
Each look away,
each step aside,
is another stone laid
on the path they walk freely.
Evil does not rise alone-
it is lifted
by the weight
of our silence.
