Silence Saddens Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Silence Saddens

Silence saddens
Friday,21st May 2021

Whatever may be the reason?
we have failed as human beings
we have expressed sorrows
and allow pain to be read

how many souls disappeared?
how many families were rendered, orphan?
we were united in approach as a result,
we could reach at some end

yes the silence saddens
the death toll mounts
no one bothers
but tragedy occurs

flowers have lost their colours
they have forgotten to offer fragrance
nature has really cared for us
we can only express trust

if the pandemic has taken a heavy toll
the unrest elsewhere has called
for the restraint and halt
we can't appreciate the war cult

let there be mutual consent
and opinion should be presented
at the right platform
and the world be informed accordingly

we can't afford hostility elsewhere
it causes instability and fear
the population bears the brunt
the houses on both sides burnt
