Silent Cradle Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

Silent Cradle

They came like whispers,
barely formed, yet infinite,
carrying the weight of all we dreamed
and all we would never hold.

Their absence carves
a hollow in our hearts,
a place too tender for words.
We hold them in shadows,
in the spaces between breaths.

The world moves on,
but we remain here,
standing in the stillness
where tiny lives flickered
and faded into silence.

No lullabies to sing,
no footsteps to fellow.
Only the ache of love unspent,
and the endless question-
what might they have been?

Yet even in this sorrow,
they are ours.
Brief sparks in the dark,
forever etched in the fabric of us.
