Silent Night Poem by Oyetunji Toba

Silent Night

Rating: 4.5

Silent night!
You are a period enveloped in darkness.
Guided by the beautiful face of the Stars and the moon.
You offer great tidings of joy to all.

You offer calmness and solitariness,
From the hustle and bustle of the day.
With you the soul, body, and mind of the weary rejuvenate from it daily toils.
Silent night! A period of conjugal bliss.

On one cold and wintry night.
Out of your darkness came a light,
Which dawned o'er the world,
Shinning bright from a star,
that stood o'er a young child.

On one cold and wintry night.
Birds flew away to the south for winter.
During a period of muted silence and stillness,
The earth bow, to honour it king.
Born by a sacred Virgin.

On one cold and silent night.
A shepherd was born to wash away our sins
-sins a thousand ocean could not wash.
A saviour was born, wrapped in swaddling cloths.

Oh! Silent night,
Night of joy,
Joy in heaven,
Joy on earth,
To the saviour who is born.
