Silent Sand Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

Silent Sand

Rating: 4.0

I am alone but with my thoughts
To keep me company.
My audience of silent sand and steady breeze
And waves pushing in retreat.
A variety of seabirds
Enjoying their breakfasts.
The black leggings and yellow boots
Of the Snowy Egret,
Always dressed to dine.
The hovering tiny terns
Above the puddled flats.
Small flocks flying in unisen
Along the water's edge.
A lone seagull following.
The dark Heron quietly, patiently waiting.
The clouds are lifting
And the air's lightening.
The fresh damp smell of salt and fish.
But it is just me here
With meandering thoughts
For company.
