You could feed the worlds poor,
or fight the cancer war
Slap the iron rule of tyrants
And give the back hand to fascists
Or give a hand to migrants
Be a saint and give food baskets
for 6 million dollars
you can do more...
Instead you buy a guitar
From a burned-out star
It just goes to show
That a suicidal junkie's death
Has more weight in public worth
Then a million caged immigrants
Dying for a better life
Or an entire village of children
Starving for a crumb of bread
Or even a single black man
Whose only crime was that he breathed
Maybe they would have been more lucky
if they were born as $ 6 million dollar guitar
Perhaps I just lack perspective
On what makes a good investment
For the capital of famous name
Is worth more then humanities stock
For compassion's a poor commodity
And morality just an oddity
Is human life a wasted Expense
Maybe I just can't see the cents
For spending Six Million dollars for a guitar?
Guess I'm just not human enough
Oh well
Never mind
In total agreement with you, Kevin! Some people have so much money that could truly benefit mankind, yet spend it so foolishly. And who are those bright people who appraise these material things? How do they arrive at these ludicrous amounts? Kevin, this is a great social commentary poem. I think it would make a great song! I can hear the Bare Naked Ladies singing it right now. Great job!
A thought provoking write! Admired and appreciated........10/10

Very profound, Kevin. Yes, you describe what we have become. Long gone are the days of any punchlines about people with so much money, they have no idea what to do with it. This verse goes to myfavourites.
