Skeleton Wonderland Poem by Kelly Boutin

Skeleton Wonderland

We played arm-bone dominoes
and we all fell down,
the chain-smoking islands
choked us back out;
black billows of smoke
darkened our bones
until we turned around.

We're playing arm-bone dominoes,
this is our last attempt
to somehow make it home,
to overcome the end,
you can have my arm-bone when I die
I have yours by my side,
it's my only friend.

We played arm-bone dominoes
and our hearts broke in half,
I have a broken arm to hold
and the skeleton of a hand,
here's a skeleton ring, my love
and a skeleton key to lock me up
in skeleton wonderland.
