Skirmish 5 Poem by Barry Van Allen

Skirmish 5

Rating: 5.0

We don't seek to be the ' Bully ' of the world,
yet, we are the ' Target ' of the world,
I guess it's easier to ' take aim ',
than to stand upon your own two legs,
and make a difference for yourself!

Placing blame is easy,
responsibility is hard,
the submission is the easy way,
as long as you can live with that,
... I guess the question is...
' How Long '?

How Long will you allow someone else to run your life?
How Long will you allow your children to be bombs?
How Long will you allow yourself to be a cog in the machine?
How Long will you pretend that human life is something special,
when it is obvious to you, that it is not, the way they waste it!
How Long will you be proud of them for blowing up the innocent?
How Long will you imagine that some leader is a ' God '?
How Long before you figure out that your lifetime may have meaning?
How long before you are convinced that it never really did?
How Long before it is proved that your religion is superior?
How long before it is proved that no religion is?
How Long until we get along enough to realize that unless
... we get along, we all are doomed?
How Long until you ask yourself so many questions I've not asked yet?
How Long is long enough?

Judging by the fact that war has been occurring for ages...I doubt that we ever really get it right...sadly. Great poem Barry! Very thought provoking! Hugs, Dee
