Slaughtering A Tree



[This poem is written to protest against the cutting of trees beside the streets of Kolkata city]

Half-dead leaves lying on the footpath
Told me how their mother tree was slaughtered,
Illiterate people needed wood, so they cut the tree,
I wonder, if ‘ save the greeneries ’ movement really mattered!
