Sleep Poem by Daya Nandan

Sleep

Studying and work you deprive me of sleep,
Studying and work you make me weep,
Too much work makes me lethargic and weak,
Studying a dozen hours, everyday of the week,

Poor coordination and blood shot eyes,
Reduced alertness, my burning spirit dies,
I need sleep, really, extremely, so badly,
I am gonna faint at any moment but sadly,

I have to fight it because of all the work upon me,
Reaching the deadline despite the fact that i can barely see,
The words on the papers, the numbers in front,
My once sharp mind is now like a rusty blade so blunt,

I need sleep so badly, i need a lot of rest,
I need an 8 hour coma to be feeling at my best,
I am running low on stamina i can barely write,
It may still be day but i bid you all good night,
