Slide Whistle Zoo Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

Slide Whistle Zoo

Everything is much more fun
With a slide whistle by your side.
Try it at a funeral home,
And the corpse might even rise.

I took a kazoo to the local zoo
For the chimps to hear me play.
They only mumbled 'ooh ooh ooh, '
As they scratched arm pits today.

I played my drums at the lions cage,
But it didn't really seem to care,
Until it charged full speed at me
And it stiffened straight up my hair.

I went over to the giraffes domain
But it could not hear my sounds.
Even though his ears were very large
But they're so high off the ground.

So I packed up all my instruments
Except for the slide whistle.
I like watching things go up and down,
As long as they're not missiles.
