Sm028. Banyan Tree And Ganesh Temple

THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY

Mother was looking for someone
One evening and one old man
Rushed to find out from her
What she was searching for?

She told him, "A Banyan Tree,
Near Matrimandir in Auroville,
Is now crying with severe pain,
Go there and find out the reason."

When he went there, he found,
On the trunk, an axe was fixed,
By a worker that injured its foot,
And he immediately removed it.

Even a tree's complaint,
She had seriously taken it,
And gave it relief at once,
As the Mother of Universe.

There was a Ganesh Temple,
Near Ashram building wall,
Which needed a small piece
Of land for the devotees' use.

Lord Ganesh approached her,
As one of her close admirer,
For some space from her site,
And she willingly gave it.

The Mayor of Pondicherry,
Had a coal dump and factory,
Near the seashore, as its owner,
And the sea washed away its wall.

Many times he repaired the wall
But of no use, as each time it fell
Into the wide mouth of the sea-devil
That swallowed once again the wall.

He prayed for Mother's mercy,
Who told the sea-god to take pity,
And he didn't touch the fresh wall,
That came up then strong and tall.

So, Mother had a hold on nature,
That obeyed her friendly orders,
And every time a calamity arose,
She came forward there to face.
