The kindergarten class was taught
About smoke detectors, and why
In each and ev'ry home there ought
Be working ones that are nearby,
So that some smoke from any fire
Will cause a loud sound of alarm
Of emergency that is dire,
And nobody will come to harm,
Following a plan of safety.
The teacher then asked in review,
What would cause the alarm to be,
To know what action all should do?
Replied a quite serious lad,
'That there is cooking by my Dad.'
