So You Can Have Your Hero Poem by Tiffani Williams

So You Can Have Your Hero

Hidden from the cameras
You frame inside your mind
Just behind your eyes,
I cry.
A picture is worth a thousand words
And I’m just not ready to be heard
I don’t want you to capture my weakness
And shake it up inside your mouth
I don’t want to see the Polaroid picture
That you make it out to be
Cause I know it’s going to be far from the truth
And, the blame rests on me
Cause I’m not ready to explain.
So, I won’t allow your memory
To capture my pain.
If only for a second, that would be all it’d take
For you to see me now
And to realize, I’m not so strong anymore.
Or maybe, I never was.
But you look up to who I pretend to be
So after I dry my eyes, I’ll put on my mask
And, you can have your hero
While I wait for someone to save me.
but how can someone hold my hand
when I don’t stretch it out?

I guess they

Just cant.
