Sobering Pillows Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Sobering Pillows

Rating: 3.0

Rain weeps slowly in the city,
the darkening sky is like a lonely friend
slipping further into depression.

The streetlights seem to blink
with fading and dying light,
there is not enough light
to reach a more hopeful destination.

Soon I will seek ways to elude myself,
somehow escape my existence,
not face unfruitful realities.

Is there a way to remove yourself
from someone else' history?
To leave them oblivious
to anything you once shared?

After sobering up on separate pillows,
we can reevaluate the purposefulness
of any further intimacies.
