Sold For A Loaf Poem by Koffi B Sossou

Sold For A Loaf

Rating: 5.0

I suffered all my life
There was no bread to eat
No shelter to live
I was unknown
Living among the untrodden ways
Drinking the random waters along the way
I couldn't remember how many times I bathed
But there's one thing I'm sure of
I shower at every rainfall
I befriended the sun in the summer
The rain and snow in winter
One day, I was spotted by a man holding a camera
Someone I never saw again
He offered me bread and clothes and asked me to smile
What I did do to please him
In the evening news,
Was my photo under which it was written
'Happiness is priceless'
That made me cry
For I've never been happy.

Deeply poignant and touching poem. People sometimes have ulterior motive in helping others. Kindness springs from our heart.
