Soldier Poet Poem by Jon M. Nelson

On the battlefield he’s always alert,
And not afraid to get down in the dirt.
Back home he will share his thoughts,
And talk about the nightmares he’s caught.

He wears his uniform and serves with pride,
With his brothers and sisters by his side.
With a pen and paper he’s able to express,
The horrors he’s been through he’ll confess.

He proudly serves and has your back,
And is always ready for most any attack.
Yet he writes of peace and the world as one,
For hopes that the wars will soon be done.

He carries a weapon to defend himself,
Yet he won’t pass up a cry for help.
He uses his words to bring the peace,
As he tries to put the world at ease.

He’ll fight when needed and won’t back down,
Amidst all the chaos that is always around.
His words of wisdom seem to bring change,
And hopefully the peace can begin to exchange.
