Some Are Good, Others Are Better Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Some Are Good, Others Are Better

There was a tree that grew near the village pond
And there I sat thinking of life
Success and failures.

Some say like ripe fruits
Success drops in your lap.
I have toiled all my life.
My lap is still empty and I cry in vain.

I have seen success thrust on some
Who barely raise a finger to achieve it!

Those are the ones who reap the happiness
That others have labored for
What a fiction then to believe
That you get what you deserve.

In this life, I have found that you deserve nothing!
Not even the fruits of your ownlabour!
For there aremany
Who are there to grab your light.
