Someone Had Too Poem by Sandile mngadi.

Someone Had Too

Someone had to lose
It was either you or me
But one of us had to bow to the other
Hands down
Face wide open
Heavy breathing
Blood, sweat, extortion
Heart pumping fast
Legs shaking
Someone had to lose
It was either you or me
But one of us had to bow
You had your moments
I had mine
There was a part where I was convinced you will touch ground
There were parts where I thought damn you had me
Taking 2 steps back
After those punches
Uppercut, jab, blow, and take a step forward
To a point where I did not even trust myself that I will win
All kinds of thoughts in my mind
Wishing the referee rings the bell
Time keeper where are you?
This match is heavy
Someone had to win
Someone had to lose
I was not going to give up without looking deep
Your heart is meant to be mine
So, you were bound to lose not me
You were bound to bow down to my request
You were meant to lose
I was there to win
I take you to be mine for ever
Here is my belt wear it with pride
I had to win for us
Hence I made a request that you be mine
I give you my heart "take it"
I have already won yours
I love you
