Sometimes I Sit And Wonder Why

Sometimes I sit and wonder why
people have to drink and drive
they hurt or kill someone else
but all they think about are themselves
do they even care about what they did?
or how the family will handle it
How do they think the loved ones will get by?
sometimes I sit and wonder why
do they see what they actually take away
on that awful dreaded day?
do they even think about
all the hearts they are ripping out?
or the family and the friends
we now have to live without
do they realize how much they drink?
do they know how much we cry?
what can we do to make them think?
Sometimes I sit and wonder why

Hey Jeanette, u haven't lost ur touch with poetry. This poem made me sit.and think about the dangers of driving drunk. Its true u only think about the drinking and not about the lives u could be affecting. This poem will help me think twice.about those other lives, and help me sit and wonder why.
