Somewhere In The Darkness

from "While Passing Through"/Winter

Winter night. Large barn.
Somewhere in this huge darkness
the hoot of an owl.

Been there. Jumped 10 feet into the air [okay a little exaggeration] and the horse followed suit [except he actually jumped higher]. Dang owls can change a pleasant night into a Freddy Kruger screenplay. Excellent Haiku, Glen.

thanks, susan. it hadn't occurred to me that the owl would spook a large animal like a horse. Dang owls can change a pleasant night into a Freddy Kruger screenplay—this made me laugh(!) i wonder if the horse reacted to the owl or to your being spooked. -glen

hi, valsa! thank you for this comment. like another haiku of mine, this one just came in to my imagination, was witnessed there, rather than in outside in the objective world. it was a compelling image to me. -glen
