Son Of God Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Son Of God

Nails hammered into wrists and feet
Roman soldiers raise up the cross
Jesus Christ crowned with thorns
Crucified between two thieves.

Sky turns dark as night
People believing world is ending
Beneath the cross disciple John
With Mary mother of Jesus
John youngest of the twelve
Only disciple witnessing the crucifixion.

When Jesus died curtain in the temple
Ripped asunder, lightening zapped across the sky
Centurion in charge of the crucifixion
Cried out in terror, "This is the Son of God."
